Archaeology Hike

Take a walk through the early history of Weedon Island to learn about the indigenous cultures that dominated this coastal part of Pinellas County thousands of years ago. This guided tour will take participants on a 2 mile hike to visit an active archaeological dig site on the Preserve. Dr. John Arthur, AWAIRE board member and University of South Florida anthropology professor in charge of the field site, will give a brief talk on past and current archaeological research being conducted at Weedon Island Preserve.

This hike is recommended for adults. We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes, a hat, and bringing a water bottle.
