Rad Schools I Geoffrey Canada

November 17, 2017 @ 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm

Geoffrey Canada – Distinguished Aresty Speaker
Urban Education Leader and Founder of the Harlem Children’s Zone

Geoffrey Canada, Founder of the revolutionary Harlem Children’s Zone in New York City, has dedicated the past twenty years of his life to helping the most impoverished, at-risk youth beat the odds. Radically ambitious and startlingly simple, Canada’s programs are on the cutting edge of preventing youth violence and fostering community development.

Canada is a passionate advocate for education reform and his groundbreaking work has been replicated in communities across the country. On Friday, November 17th, he’s sharing his message here in St. Petersburg, as we explore the future of education here in Tampa Bay–and beyond.

The New York Times Magazine said the Zone Project “combines educational, social, and medical services that start at birth and follows children to college… to create a safety net woven so tightly that children in the neighborhood just can’t slip through.”

After hosting an intimate invitation-only workshop with regional educators and community leaders, Mr. Canada will share his thoughts on supporting local schools through comprehensive community engagement and sustainable urban strategies.

Join us for this unique and timely conversation!
