Jack Kerouac Night at the Flamingo Bar

The 18th Jack Kerouac Night returns to the Flamingo Bar, where the author had his last drink. A legendary St. Pete event held twice each year on the months of the author’s death and birth, will feature a special appearance and reading by Florida author Tim Dorsey, and a program of poetry, performed by the Keep St. Pete Lit Beat Poets to the improvisational jazz of the 9th Street MLK Jazz Band complemented by folk and rock music by a lineup including Ronny Elliott, Panama Red, Not Broken Yet, the Florida Boys, James Hawkins, Rosewood Creek, the Muddy River Bottom Waders and Eric Andersen, all on the renovated, improved, larger front deck of one of St. Pete’s oldest bars. Kerouac drink specials, raffles of Kerouac tee shirts, CDs and other items and many special guests will also be featured. Proceeds go to the non-profit Friends of Jack Kerouac’s House, Inc., which strives to protect and maintain Jack’s last residence.
